Put Duck-weed in C. of Potash 2 gr to 1 oz for 1 1/2 hour could perceive no decided change. — Then (at 11˚. 15') put in C. of Am 3 gr 1 oz. in 25' some spheres produced, but not in leaf in 3 Hours few prod

Gathered a plant of Euphorbia injuring all roots as little as possible, & put them for 18 hours in drach of solution of C. of Amm 1 gr to 1 oz so that fluid had 1/8' of grain — whole length of all roots were broken up into g reddish & brown masses. —
I examined several other fresh roots & could see no trace of this structure. — (I then put fresh roots into C. of Amm 3 gr to 1 oz & before I could get object into under Microscope to a marked change of clouds of granules & ([sketches]) thus shaped masses of reddish & brown matter had formed run far up in all the roots—
I then put roots in C of Potash (2 gr to 1 oz) for 35' no change whatever was produced.

I then took slice of stem of Euphorbia & put into (3 gr to 1 oz of C. of Ammonia) in & the green cells instantly became clouded, & cells which were transparent became clouded brown with granules. I could see no effect on the globules of preexisting chlorophyll. — I could see no movements in the matter after clouds first formed.—
