July 7th 7. 45 so much clasped — I cannot see state
July 8 7. 45 1 leaf still clasped— 4 other only slightly with much gluten still undissolved.)
(9th, one leaf open I see some gluten left, brown in drawn out threads; & many glands whitened, in this case at least too powerful.)
(10th 8º, 2d leaf now expanding Some gluten left & every gland on the disc killed: this will account for small digestion like some meat
2 round sticks gluten treated for 15. with Hydrochloric acid .02 per cent — softened & swollen See Back)
(July 7th 7. 40' so much clasped I cannot seen)
July 8th 7. 40' entirely open, I can see little opake matter on disc but after this was scraped off I could se none, F scraped all slime off the 2 leaves & F. examined under compound & nothing cd b seen besides starch granules & [illeg]
July 7th 8. — 3 leaves stick with white wool— Some much liquefied gluten after acid — a good deal on each leaf
(July 8th 7. 45 leaves nearly open, & almost all has disappeared)
(9th 8. most l all leaves fully expanded, in 2 of them more traces here & there & bit .not wholly dissolved — in the 3d quite dissolved, secretion acid, glands in one rather pale)
