Ap 30th

Dentine & Enamel

No' 10. 8° 45'— little saliva[sketch] D

June May 1. 8° lamina sub-inflected. little saliva

May 2d — but little inflected, added saliva

May 4th 8° Almost completely open. — (May 5' do — transferred to fresh leaf basis of dentine flexible like soft paper.) (6th 8° lamina splendidly inflected.

(8th beginning to open) (9th. quite open)

I examined this leaf by scraping utterly soft & torn bits of membrane of dentine torn by separation of tentacles— alone remained— I could not find a trace of dentine enamel— perhaps merely lost. — I think some of membrane fibrous basis of dentine probably dissolved. — glands on which the dentine had laid — rather colourless.
