Apr 30 74. 11º. 15' Put bits of hard boiled egg on 6 leaves (on separate plants with sticks) to try with glycerine.

Success

(May 1' 8º 20'. I fond most so little inflected that I added more egg with little saliva & put on 2 more, so 6 8 altogether.

(May 2d 7º 45' put the 8 cut off leaves, all well inflected, into 3 or 4 drops of glycerine.

May 2d. 2º 30' — after 7º squeezed fluid excessively viscid from the 8 flaccid leaves — some bits of albumen still undissolved. — ((Put on drop of viscid matter with 32 minim of Hydrochloric (1 to 400 water) in little drop - (I.) This mass contained 2 bits of albumen.—

(5º. P.m, one bit almost gone, the other much reduced.)

(May 3d. 8º A m. same state)

(May 3)s 4º 30 all gone except perhaps atoms)

(May 4th 8º A.m. put on Chimney Piece. one bit of albumen.

Vessel (4)  at 4º P.m Put 2 angular parallelograms with 2 drops of glycerine (for control) & 30 minim of Hydrochloric as above
