1874 April 11th 8° A.m.

Immersed in distilled water 2 good leaves (& 3 small ones) on Plant with roots.—

April 13 9° 15 1 leaf hardly any very little inflection glands blackened— trace little of segregation — very little Protoplasm changes form. ie. after 46°

2d leaf red matter broken — incipient aggregation — moderate (glands blackened)

sub-marginal sub- inflected (Used)

3 other small leaves. 3 very pla pale

9° 45' a very little inflection — (One of these too pale to see anything) — the other 2. with decided agg. on near glands Unquestionable aggregation (after 47°)

Protoplasm certainly changing form & position large oval masses

Roots not at all destroyed in removing from mass, so some aggregation, though roots perfect.
