20 Tubers, beside all intermediate stages —from slight imperceptible swelling down to depth of 2 inches — but most frequent nearer surface) — True Utricle not common at greater depth & none found at very bottom of pit— I consider them rhizomes,from homology of bladders & because they send up shoots — but no doubt act as roots & appear like them & no other roots─

Hooker say believed to be an epiphyte

Call the vessels "barred vessel" [sketch]
