Dionæa. Oct 20th 1874
Young leaf cut in half longitudinally; one half suspended over raw meat infusion which gave off frightfully strong putrid vapour; the other half over water.
Examined then after 26hrs suspension. There was aggregation in the octofids in both specimens & to about the same extent. No movement in the protoplasm; one specimen watched examined for after 1hr 3/4
Octofids
There are octofids on the footstalk, & apparently most on the upper surface—
There are a few octofids on the internal surface among the secreting glands
A fe good many octofids on the outer surface of leaf
