Digestion           Abstract of

A. A (5) albumen 1/10' of inch cube. — gelatine 2/10' long 4/10 broad — moistened with saliva opened in 13 days. — little viscid liquid on midrib — a trace only of albumen left — too much — fibre with fungus no gelatine left. — glands dropped off where albumen left—

A. (A) (1) albumen 1/60 only 1/20 thick & gelatine as before — cut leaf open after 8 days — much slightly adhesive fluid very acid — contents of beautiful open cells aggregated not a vestige of sold matter, all dissolve & gone. — same sized cut piece of albumen & gelatine pure & decayed kept on wet moss in same pot pure & decayed & mottled mottled with fi fibre of mould.

B (A) (3) albumen 1/20' broad & thick 3/20 long — gelatine — see for measure after 12 days opened spont. no vestige of solid matter, a very little fluid at one end of midrib

B. B. — albumen 1/10 cube — gelatine 1/10 & 2/10 long — cut open after 45° angles only rounded & hardened & congested— gelatine well rounded — digestion slower, if this fair example, this is Drosera, which agrees with time leaf keeps closed.

C C. C Cheese & albumen 1/20 of inch — 9 days a mere vestige of albumen surface blackened

C C. M cube of roasted Beef & Bread [illeg] opened 12 days

C C C. (4) A albumen 1/20' by 3/20 & gelatine. 13 days leaf began to wither —all gone except atom of brown matter.

C.C C. C albumen & cheese — all dissolve. drop of viscid transparent matter

G. (2) A albumen 1/20' & gelatine (see for measures) — 7 days cut open leaf. — not a trace only moderate amt of secretion
