P. Lusitanica July 8th

8° 20' red stick secreted midrib & spines

compass gives width (10th 45' no effect) (2° 30', 0)

9th 8° 0

July 8th

2° 40 [-] 25 [=] 15

Black stick

(1) 8° 25' bit of albumen on glands well secreting viscid matter — sides symmetrical — albumen placed about 1.2 way between midrib & curled in margin (10° 40 has excited grt secretion & margin of leaf rather more folded over on that side.) (12° greatly inflected), inflection extending up almost to apex of leaf.)

(9th 8° edge rolled over so as to touch blade, & extends to [illeg] about the within 1/20th of inch of mid-rib — I have never seen such involution in P. vulgaris

(10' 8° has begun to open again)

11th 8° 15 quite open some with albumen, 1/2 liquefied left

(2) 8° 30' stick with [illeg] bit of albumen under involuted edge near apex — gland secreting (10° 45' much secretion) —

(9th 8° decidedly more involuted, than opposite margin, but not greatly so)

(10th, 8° somewhat opened)

(11th 8° 15 quite open — some albumen left.)

8° 35 Stick 7 chain of Blue-Glass

(10° 45' no clear effect) (12° I think inflected)

(2° 30' certainly some inflection & decided secretion)

(9th 8° no increase of inflection & secretion has ceased & almost dry)

(6) [illeg] leaf
