[75]

(A

p. 9. C. of Am made lining of quadrifids to shrink

p. 6. Southampton - infusion of raw meat for 48º- most of the quadrifids contain 2 or 3 particles.

p. D. irrigation for 21º with N. of Am 2 gr to 1 oz & weak Ph 1 gr. to 20 oz i utricular layer a little shrunk & finely granular - no great change

Nitrate & Phosphate

p. E. do do do no great change

p E Back Weak infusion of Raw meat for 24º no great change

p. H. Brown Bladder flaccid & dry for 48º in above N. & Ph of Am. - utricular layer much contracted.

p. 4 - for 28º in high infusion of raw - Bladders crisp Brown quadrifids & bifids not affected, but some with utricles shrank

p. N. Brown - in Bladders in infusion of high raw meat for 4 days - no change in quadrifids but not closely examined - those irrigated with N. & Ph. 1/2 & 1/2 of Am (1 gr to 1 oz) utricular layer shrank after 9º & in mny spines several Brownian particles.

p. 4. young Bladder - irrigated Urea 2 gr. to 1 oz - after 24º no change, except Brownian were plain - a littl shrinking Urea

p. DD irrigated with Ph of Amm. 1 gr. to 1 oz - after 20º - utricular layer shrunk from walls of all spines

P. EE Q beautifully transparent, no Brownian clear irrigated with rather high R. M. - after 24º innumerable most minute hyaline spheres H. R. M in all the Q. & Bs - none are large as true Hyaline

p. FF Q very long spines most clear & not shrunk - irrigated with C. of Ammonia 1 gr to 1 oz - After 8º 30' Carbonate some shrinking & a good many particles in Q. some larger than Brownian - After 23º - several Hyalin spheres like, but larger than the Brownians, 24 such in 2 spines - & as many in some others, but generally fewer - Bifids in same state.

[76]

(B

p. GG. Q beautifully clear - few or no Brownians

irrigated with N. of A. 1 gr. to 1 oz - After 8º - utricular layer more shrunk - Nitrate of Am After 22º 30' - Brownian movement developed from delicate spheres - U. layer moderately shrunk - Bifids like Q. In many spines several particles

p. H H. Bis Gum 2 gr to 1 oz - irrigated with after 21º 30' no change beautifully clear. - then irrigated with C. of Am 1 gr. to 1 oz & after 9O - U. irregularly contracted into rounded masses often round Brownians

A second spec. treated in same way

After 24º after irrigation with the C. of Amm. - U. irregularly contracted with spots thickened with 2 or 3 particles in most spines - those thickened bits seem to produce the particles.

p. KK irrigated 2 specimen with high. R. meat - after 22º U. in all spines granular - & aggregated into little hyaline spherical masses & somewhat shrunk - After 46º - U. either shrunken & here & there thickened - or converted into finest granules

p. K.K. Bis Fresh [infusion] of Raw Meat irrigated with after 23º 30' U. irregularly shrunk with spots thickened & finely granular as from C. of Am & Urea. F R. Meat

p. KK. Bis Two spec. irrigated with do - after 23º, no effect - In 2d specn. slight shrinking - some spines slightly granular & in a good many 2 or 3 particles

p. LL. Two specs. beautifully clear Old Urea 2 gr to 1 oz after 21º U. much contracted with specks here & there thickened in both - graduate into regular granules - resemble what has been described under C. of Am. Urea

[77]

(C

p. M.M. Branch in C. of Am. 1 gr to 4 oz of water After 46º 30' Bladder rather flaccid - one Bladder with Q. with numerous resolvable particles. U. not shrunk or very little

Second specn. in same state Brownians stationary

This & fourth young specn. - same state. except granular matter finer - mostly only finely opake - several hyaline granules cd be detected

p. NN. Gum (old) 2 gr to 1 oz Two specn - After 21º Q Both quit clear, - after 46º U. not shrunk, but in many 2 or even 3 Brownians, irregular in shape - as if 2 had coalesced - Was not gum made with Tank Water ?? Gum & Sugar

[in margin:] irrigated

p. OO Sugar 1 gr. to 1 oz (old?) Two spec - After 22º still clear, after 46º - spec. much decayed quite irregular particles, large & angular - U. not shrunk.

[in margin:] irrigated

p. P. P. irrigated with N. of Am 1 gr. to 1 oz After 21º Q. full of fine granular yellow matter, plainly due to aggregation of irregularly contracted U. - can see the thickened specks passing into granules. Nitrate

p. QQ Fresh Urea. 2 gr. to 1 oz - irrigated with: after 21º some quadrifid considerably shrunk, many with U. divided in Urea middle, but many not affected - After 44º 30', here & there U. shrunk, but in others no changes whatever, - no increse in Brownian particles.

P. TT. Branch in sol. of sugar fresh 1 gr. to 10 oz - after 46º Q beautifully clear - U. often divided into 2 parts. The same for Branches in C. of N. of Am. Perhaps contents of Q with traces of finest granular matter.

Young & good sized bladder with arrested Q. do. do. do.

[78]

(D

p XX Branch in N. Ammonia 1 gr. to 10 oz

Bladder popped open with Bristle - after 47º Q. not affected, but a few with more than 1 Brownian

p. XX - Branch in infusion of 1 dr of putrid raw meat to 10 oz of water - Valve popped open Q. not at all affected - Bifids with 2 or 3 Brownian
