Ch. XII. Aggregation
Oct 29th
It is certain that cutting off t. close under gland causes inflection & moderate amount of aggregation. —
Whereas crushing gland by pincers in 6 cases caused no inflection or aggregation — to great a shock like Boling water.
(I put 2 leaves into almost concentrated sol. of C. of Ammonia — glands intently blackened ؟؟؟ almost concentrated & when examined after 1° leaves flaccid?— much mucus aggregation down to base of all t'. but spheres (for few elongated) rather small & matter generally greenish.)
(N. B whether there is any chemical change in the aggregated mass of P. I do not know.)—
