Aug. 28' 1870. Drosera filiformis sent me by Asa Gray, a very young & sickly plant, so time of contraction not trustworthy. Atoms of cold meat placed on single marginal & terminal pink glands with plenty of viscid viscous fluid, in 20' had all undergone considerable movement & curvature. — In 6 hours has meld moved through at about 90 degrees. In 24° the atoms of meat on the marginal hairs had come into contact with 9 & 11 heads glands in middle of leaf; & a terminal hair had moved through nearly 180 degrees, & the meat brought into contact with 12 glands. —
