Drosera spathulata from Kew
[in margin:] long & narrow leaves gradually widening
Put 1/2 minim of N. of Ammonia 3 gr to 1 oz — in 6° some Hairs inflected: in 7° Hairs met in 9° edge of leaf much incurved, making leaf semi-cylindrical.— I think this must be sole manner of inflection — in 23° killed:
Tried gum — no change was produced during several days, but plant not in active state
Put fly on in 18 hours some Hairs closed on it languidly. — These Hairs had pink fluid broken up — put Hairs in water & detected usual changes in form not very slow & slight.— I saw in cells the minute oscillating particles like infusoria. Added a few drop of C. of Ammonia 3 gr to 1 oz. — Heads instantly blackened, & a cloud of spheres was formed, passing down cells, rapidly─ these cells spheres then slowly coalesced & formed club & variously shaped bodies. — same general structure long Heads confined to termino-lateral part of leaf
