Sept. 14' 77 in the specimen of Drosera placed in weak N. of silver. (1 gr to 437. water) I see besides the glands the little prominence formed of 2 or 3 cell on the tentacles & on the disc all quickly blacken, & black specks radiate from them into the tissues of the disc. The spiracles absorb none.— Whether they really act as absorbents, or whether the outer membrane is thinner & allows the nitrate to penetrate quicker than through the cuticle of the disc, I cannot say.—
