Tuesday 14th 3. P. m Put fly on marginal hairs — both kinds (avoid word extreme marginal hair) & a bit of meat on long-headed alone at 4° 30' Both bit of fly & bit of meat put on extreme marginal Hairs are inflected middle of leaf —(so 2 kinds of Hairs) I may say when object put on extreme [text excised] was in one
Muscle after 48 hour, equal bit on leaf, & on moss— kept in exactly same circumstances — the muscular tissue distinct & transverse striæ plain— scarcely a trace of muscular fibre in few bit & no striae apparent & many infusoriæ — clearly [illeg] yet this is comparable with process like digestion — no effect on milk or white of egg.—
