The volume CUL-DAR61 contains Darwin's draft essay 'On the movement of the leaves of Drosera', written 1872-1873. He intended to publish this with a revised edition of Climbing plants before commencing a larger book draft in April 1874 which became Insectivorous plants. (I immersed a pi piece of a flower-peduncle in some a solution of C. of ammonia (4 grains to the ounce) for 1º & found the contents of most of the enlarged globular heads of most of the hairs segregated.
I then immersed another piece in pure water for 2º 30', but no effect was produced.
