Part II. Tom. 3, p. 67. Decandolle Mem. sur la famille Lithraites. — some of the genera have vary natural, of which part of species have petals & part have not; such are genera Sythronia & Ammonia — & even there are species, as Peplis pertula, of which the individuals have indifferently petals or none. Hence we have a usual generic character viz. presence of petals, variable in some genera, & in an individual species in another genus of same family.
