s. 15. Wiegmann says that though Anagallis phoenicea & caerulea, keep true to colour after constant sowing, as Willdenow also owns, yet he considers these as vars.! & the more so as A. fructicosa has these same two colours. ( Steudel makes fructicos syn. of Collina, grandiflora & monelli)

p. 339. — the zwiebeltragenden Arten from th Cape, bear no seed in our garden, though perfect in their flower. Die strenstigen Amerikan. Arten are partly truly polygamish, in part let their flowers drop off.

Found in Riesengebirge, where only L. diurna is found., - one white example - took root & planted it in garden, & except in white flower kept true to character of L. diurna.

Remarks that other species of Lychnis, as L. viscaria , githago &c & have white flowers

Flora 1835 B. II. p. 504. Von Berg ueberVerbascum phoeniceum. -

says is usually biennial but he raised var. which is perennial - other variety only annual, & this latter case occurs also with V. Blattaria.
