N.B. My theory good from Geology for these Geologs wd only compare forms from two deposits, & see how like & disregard vague question whether specifically distinct. Resemblance of more weight that numerical enumeration. In recent Forms, it wd add to perplexity what to name, ultimately perhaps only Genera.

Vol V. n.s. p. 361 De Verneuil speaking of the Lower stage of Silurian system of U.S says "The great proportional number of the Trilobites gives us an idea of the considerable development already made by this family, & wh. corresponds to what is observed in Europe."

p 362 speaks of the Trilobites, orthoceratites & the Brachiopods by their variety of forms. All this argument for a precursor period.
