Autumn 1864. Covered up in open net a large branch of radish, it became covered with fine pods, quite as much as rest of plant— then I collected 20 pods by chance & all these contained some seed except 1 pod.— the average seed of whole 20 was only 1.85 seed per pod— 20 pods, which had not been covered & were visited by insects som all contained seed, & average seed per pod was 3.50.
