Dichogamy

Trifolium arvense (Hares-foot Trefoil) flower excessively small & surrounded by wool, yet incessantly visited by Hive & Humble-bees— Both exposed flowers & those under a secure net, set everyone produced its own seed.— So fully fertile without insect aid— I took ripe seed from many heads & mingled them & then examined above a score of each.—
