Aug 6. 1873 Abinger

Saw large Bombus lapidarius sucking sweet peas. He went to one side of the standard, never moving the keel, & lifting up the base of the single stamen (& I afterwards found this part prised up) & thus sucked the nectar. He cd do nothing thus for cross fertilisation
