Sweet Pea var Painted Lady.

Two flowers fert. by cross with pollen of Purple Sw. Pea produced 2 pods with 3 & 7 seeds. 5 or Six Pods, not fertilised & self fertilised produced 38 peas. Max. 8 Minimum 5.

(From indirect evidence I believe these peas are not useful; but I saw peculiar Bee visiting them in manner, depressing keel & rubbing stigma on body which wd cross them. Lett. saw Humble sucking, but it sucked nectar & did not depress keel.—)

(The 10 crossed peas weighed 15.24 gr & 10 good uncrossed peas weighed 14.15 gr.— so a little heavier.)
