(Phaseolus [illeg] flowers (tall scarlet runner) 1867

Only 2 crossed self-fertilised flowers set producing (all that was done was moving wing petals occasionally, & this was done to at least a dozen) & they produced 2 & 4 seeds.

Five crossed flowers set & produced 15 seed.

(May 24th /68/ — Plants 8 inches to tip of stem & equal.)

June 26 /68/ In both Pots the crossed flowered first.

(Sept 28' very little difference in fertility, but the crossed plants ripened a greater number of pods before the self-plants. Add all this way

The crossed produced 20 pods with 28 good seed. ie average 1.40

The selfs ― 18 with 26 do ie. .... 1.44.)
