Scabiosa atropurpurea (1867) (very unfavourable season)
Whole Heads fertilised, but number not recorded; but the crossed set pretty well, whilst the self failed greatly.
4 Crossed capitulum yielded average of 36.8 seed— Max. 54 min. 22
Self-produced only one small Head with 23 seeds
(May 17' The crossed seedlings as with Œnother after germinating have died. In Pot I. only one crossed & 3 self alive
