Darwin reproduced Alexander Ecker's figure of a human embryo in Descent 1: 15. Darwin noted on the following page "I was directed to these figures by Prof. Huxley, from whose work, 'Man's Place in Nature,' the idea of giving them was taken."

In the latter there is transparent white space which might be very slightly shaded - Have drawn on same side - Get Huxley to add explanation of letters. Give authorities & say idea taken from Huxley's Place of Nature & excellently carried out by Häckel Schopfungs-Geschichte
