Proc. Royal Soc. Edinburgh - 1866- 67 p. 65 Prof. W. Turner on the Musculus sternalis in man occur in about 3 per cent in upwards of 600 bodies - its state is variable & allows "an excellent illustration of the truth of the statement that occasional & rudimentary structures are especially liable to variation in arrangement."- shows it is not an extension of the rectus abdominalis, but is most closely allied to the panniculus carnosus or great skin muscle of the quadruped.

He has also shown *that [muscle] is not [illeg] & he has found the [illeg] out of 600 body examine in about 3 persons he adds this may offer a useful [illeg]. We have a number of cases variable [illeg], not regular [illeg] which passes from the eyebrow over the scalp to the back of the head; for some persons can move the scalp.

M. A. de C. has kindly [communicated] to me a curious instance of the long related peculiar
