After Chiasognathus grantii many Beetles make constant noise by creaking - but only case of Coleopt. of which I have heard making sexual noise is the Death Tick - for Mr H. Doubleday has ascertained that the sexes answer & call to each other by their noises, which is made by tapping convex thorax on wood - Ask Doubleday & about means of making noises
