Sept 25 1868. Oryctes gryphus F. found both sexes would squeak. - The male differs chiefly in the rasp being much less Hairy, & in the upper coarser ridge being much more continuous; for in this genus differently from others, The rasp graduates towards end of abdomen in ridges getting finer & finer. If we had not made ♀ squeak I shd have guessed from Hairs that see cd not have done so; females use them much less.
