Oct 5. 68 Necrophorus vespillo.

F. prepared dorsal segment of ♂ and ♀.

Rasp of is much less transparent. Each rasp is broadest towards base (where it is 40/7000 wide) & in moving upwards becomes narrow till it sides rather irregular: at base the 2 rasps (space between measured internally) are 20 grades apart, & at upper end 8 grades apart, so that they separately approach each other

[sketch] widest part

Rasp of ♀ more transparent 40/7000 broad in broadest part. Each rasp becomes narrower towards base & at upper end, but at latter not so narrow as in ♂ - near base 17 grades apart, at open end 12 grades apart. - So the widest part is different in male & female: but equally wide in widest part.

Spines pointing towards end of abdomen between the 2 rasps & externally.

I have been looking at these when dry on card - the rasp of ♀ appears more prominent & narrower!! & nearer together than in ♂.
