May 28 Engleheart tells me he witnessed a valuable Retriever, that wd not receive another retriever ♂, but took a strange Terrier, & even afterwards had to be muzzled & held for Retriever, always preferring a Terrier.

It is hence certain that animals have strong sexual preferences & dislikes - but of course it must be conjectural which determines them in a state of nature - When one has display or voice & some may safely judge.
