Eupetomena hirundinacea "sexes are fairly like in colour" - but differ in size - beautiful head dark rich blue - nestlings do not differ much from adults (Whole head intense blue back green with band on loins - reddish tail dark blue very conspicuous)

Campylopterus pampæ sexes alike beautiful Birds; so in some other species of the genus Back green - gorget intense blue

Some species have both sexes rather obscure

[in margin:] is back green?

The females of many species (for example Topaza pyra) wd be considered as a beautiful & gorgeous bird yet open nest - though nothing in beauty compared to the male. (Back green of female)

Lampornis porphyrurus female & male very like & beautiful birds upper surface of ♀ blackish green, but crimson lobes & sides of throat visible on nest - open nest - female

has in addition a purplish-green mark down the throat.  In some of the other species sexes very alike, except that in several, the female has black bar down throat, bordered by white.

The males are frequently more beautiful than ♀ in throat & breast; now such beauty on Breast wd not be injurious to ♀ on nest.

Lamp. Veraguensis females most ornamented & diversified in tail feathers & breast; & in back more gilded green.
