May 11/ The age at which the variations of colour of the plumage supervened, after long [continual] augmentation through S. Selection, has determined the near resemblance of the young to both parents, or to the female parent alone & in some cases to the male parent, the similarity or wonderful dissimilarity of the two sexes — & ultimately to a larger extent the correlation of open or concealed nests.
