"Gould, John, 1804-81. Ornithologist. Taxidermist to Zoological Society of London. Producer of sumptuous bird books. 1827 First Curator and Preserver at the museum of the Zoological Society of London. 1837 G described CD's Beagle birds in Proc. of the Zool. Soc. of London (F1643, F1644) with notes on habits by CD and others without. There are four additional articles (1837-8) on the Galapagos birds by G without contributions by CD.
