In the glossy Ibis (Falcinellus igneus) male scarlet only during breeding season, female always chestnut-brown with metallic green. In Argus pheasant the 2 very long feathers in tail are real feathers.
In birds of Paradise the fimbriated feathers which when erected form a sort of fountain on each side of the body spring from beneath the wings.
Calurus resplendens the female has not the gorgeous long tail-feathers.
