May 4th young & immature & inexperienced Kingfisher, Parrots & woodpecker &c wd require protection as much as ♀, yet these are brightly coloured! Because they happened to vary young when sex immature, the variation did not become attached to sex & were consequently transmitted to female; & as colour wd undoubtedly be dangerous to ♀, she nested in Holes - nesting a variable element.
