(1

Eschricht on Hair.

(p 40)

[in margin:] see. Chpt. I* for References

Woolly hair on face & eyebrows longer than head-hair at 5th month

woolly whiskers & eyebrows in female foetus which struck him

41 all woolly hair developed at beginning of 6th month - whole body woolly at end of 6th month

shell of ear hairy

- same embedded hairs in swine

- appears at different periods on different periods of body

[Right margin:] Blue lines Perhaps Bears on sexual selection

p. 46 It is false that Hair directed on body so as to throw off rain - direction in embryo same as in adult.

47. Palm of Hand & soles not Hairy in foetus - even forehead has hair in foetus

47 Hairyness very variable in adult man in amount & position.

(2

Eschricht on Hair

Wirbels very variable - corners of eyes.

Also Perhaps sexual selection

p. 50 Concha of ear in foetus hairy.

p. 51. in children limit between hair of head & naked forehead sometime not distinct.

p. 55. All converge as if attached by elbow - but only for a part of the arm.

(Keep)

59 Knees no influence

61. The converging points of Hair seem to stand in some relation to last points of embryo which are closed in but I do not clearly understand, some relation between course or streaming out of arteries & direction of Hair - but too many exceptions to trust.
