March. 16/68. Z. Gardens. Crossoptilon auritum Pallas' Eared Pheasant - both sexes identical in plumage. The young at first season colour resembles adults in crimson velvet head like common pheasant

with 2 Ear-like white tufts of feathers, projecting from checks behind head, with long arched fimbriated tail-feathers - Distinguished alone by Cock having spurs. - G. R. Gray says that this is C. Manchuricus. - The fimbriated feathers are tail-coverts.
