p. 175. Blyth says young of Sarkidiornis Melanonotus in the first feathers is very like a Dendrocygna, & this indicates the true affinity of the genus. [Used]

p. 211 Lord Walden describes several sp. of Lanius the males of which have the general character of the female of L. Colluria.

p. 369 Tristram says in Palestine the chaffinch is very common in winter,
