Prof Ludwig Meyer who has long attended to the structure of the external Ear, has thrown much doubts (Virchow's Archiv fur path. Anat. B. 53 1871. S. 485) on this view of the nature of the point, in an interesting paper by showing how very variable the ear is, & that there are often several slight warty projection on the edge of the Helix. He gives also, one remarkable drawing of an ear, with a single point dinted outwards. The points, he states are commoner with men than with women.

S. 488 The Ears of men are more variable than in woman (introduce where I talk of variable of ♂ in comparison with ♀s)
