Put foot-note under Horn of Cattle — Dr C. Forsyth Major informs me that in the Val d'Arno a skull has been found what is believed to be the female of B. etruscus & was hornless, & this supports the above view in striking manner.
Also note case of several Miocene spec of Sus. Pigs in which the canine in neither sex projected above the others, so that the great tusks of the Boar are a recent acquisition.
