Sexual Selection

Neither Bates nor Butler know, after considering, any case of ocelli confined to ♂. They are sometimes larger in the ♀. Probably not due to s. selection. In some few cases perhaps serve as protection like eye of some [illeg] creature. Hence is, at least one such case with [these] (see Bates ??)
