My dear Shipley— I have sent you a photograph of Charles Darwin lent me by F. D. [Francis Darwin] also a cast of a medallion I have made on a frame to put it in will reach you on Monday morning latest, I hope by Friday [illeg]Saturday evening. Will you be so good as to place it so that the light comes from above, or through a shadow over the eyes or to the left of the profile, if it be possible; otherwise it is extremely difficult to see the modelling. It should be seen thus [sketch]

I hope it will reach you in time to be included.

We are coming up for the garden party, so I may hope to see you there.

yours always sincerely W.R.
