Dear Sir

I have nearly completed a miniature copy of my Statue of Darwin erected in Shrewsbury. I have for a long time intended to make one. This centenary of his birth and some celebrations which I understand will be held, prompted me to carry out my intention at the present time, with a view to laying my work before numerous people interested in him, my immediate object being to obtain orders for reproductions in bronze. I wrote to Mr Francis Darwin and he refers me to you. My model — I can only place a plaster original, (bronzed and mounted) is an exact copy of the large statue mentioned, of which I have the plaster by me fairly intact. If I get orders for six I can offer bronze replicas at 15 guineas.

Independent of these the figure sits nearly 15 inches high representing a standing height of about 21 inches. The size is one fifth of the statue.

Your favour and advise will greatly oblige

yours very truly

Horace Montford.

A. E. Shipley Esq.
