Royal Gardens Kew Director

My dear Shipley

In reply to your letter of 26th, the Director asks me to tell you that the Darwin seals are inserted in the thick cover of the volume of the letters. They are well adapted for exhibition but you will have to have the whole volume containing the letters it is a quarto vol. about 1 1/2 in. thick

Please let us know when you want it─ it can be sent any time at short notice.─

[2]

I enjoyed your letter to the Times very much, but I thought you had probably not anticipated what the results might be!─

On your return to Cambridge I expect you will hardly be able to move about without a strong body guard of College porters and Gyps─

With best wishes for the New Year

Yours sincerely

Arthur Hill
