The Registrar

Cambridge University,

Dear Sir,

The keen and ever increasing interest taken in Darwin in this country has induced us to publish a festival number, of which we send you a gratis copy by same mail. It will afford our Society (consisting now of 55,000 members) a great deal of pleasure to be connected in some way or other with the celebrations next June of the centenary of his birth and if you will kindly see your way to place the book among the other exhibits in Christs College, we are quite willing to send you for this purpose a few more copies of the book. We can likewise put at the disposal of the University council a few of the portraits alone for framing and distribution among the Cambridge University Colleges.

Hoping that you will avail yourself of this offer, we remain

yours faithfully
