My dear Sir,

I was about to write to you, to know when you would like to receive the Collier portrait of Darwin, when your letter arrived.

The portrait is at the present moment with Messrs Haines, but will be returned this week to grace our meeting room on the 24th instant, our anniversary. I propose getting the firm of A. J. Mucklow

[1v]

& Son, to pack the picture, and forward it to you, starting work on Tuesday, 25th May, so that it may reach you on or about the 1st June.

yours faithfully,

B. Daydon Jackson
